Sara Bess Vaughan Edwards, age 97 of Nashville, TN entered into eternal peace with her Savior and Lord Jesus Christ on Thursday morning, June 15, 2017. She was born on February 24, 1920, daughter of the late Howard N. and Bessie C. Vaughan.
Sara graduated from Goodlettsville High School in 1938 and attended Middle Tennessee State University. Sara married William E. Edwards, Jr. in 1950 and they were happily married for 11 years until he was tragically killed in a motor vehicle accident. Sara worked for the Federal Government for over 40 years, first for the VA and ending her government service with the Office of Hearing and Appeals, retiring in 1985.

After retiring, Sara was a dedicated volunteer, serving at the hostess desk of Calvary UMC for 24 years. She also volunteered for many years at Bethlehem Centers of Nashville and The Pineapple Room at Cheekwood. Sara enjoyed studying botany, geography, playing cards, reading, traveling and most of all, spending time with her family – her greatest passion. Sara’s favorite sports team was any sport her family was participating in – she was their most loyal fan.
