Michael Woodward

d. April 3, 2021

Michael Wayne Woodward of Nashville, TN passed away on Saturday April 3, 2021 following a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Mike was born in Ft Lauderdale, FL in 1950, the youngest son of Wayne and Mary Louise (Ese) Woodward. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by his older sister, Pamela. Mike is survived by his wife of 32 years, Beverly Hartman Woodward, his daughters Reagan Smith of Burns, TN (Mikey) and Katie Scarbrough of Atlanta, GA (Tyler), as well as his niece, Leslie Euren of Little Rock, AR (Paul). He also leaves behind 5 cherished granddaughters, Emily and Charlie Smith, and Anna Katherine, Hadley and Ellie Scarbrough and numerous great nieces, cousins, in laws and friends.Mike was always the most popular guy in any crowd, and the true life of the party. He was happiest anywhere there was sun shining, music playing, people laughing and dancing, and cold beers on hand. Even during his last few years in the nursing home, he was a staff favorite and could be counted on for a smile or a silly face, even when all other forms of communication had failed him. He liked to drive the coolest cars, like his Ford Probe with a car phone installed, and his fashion sense was consistently sharp. He was always up for adventures with his girls, taking them fishing, bike riding, hiking or just throwing a softball around the backyard. He loved to entertain with tall tales from his youth, called Michael Wayne stories, most of which ended up being less than true! A few classics include the time he was shot in the shoulder by an arrow at a Braves game, or the time he rode his horse on to a city bus and got off a few blocks later.Mike loved sports of all kinds, and especially enjoyed supporting his hometown Vanderbilt Commodores and Tennessee Titans. He will be remembered fondly as "Coach Mike" from his CHYAA days. He was also an animal lover, and owned a variety of pets over the years, such as his famous horse, Fooler, a kinkajou named Dammit, and a multitude of beloved dogs and cats.A celebration of his life is planned for July 17 th , 2021. The family has requested that donations be made to Alive Hospice, in his name, so they may continue to serve others as compassionately as they did Mike during his last days. https://www.alivehospice.org/donate
