James Robinson

James Harold Robinson passed away on May 30, 2022 in Nashville, TN at the age of 89. Jim was born in Old Fort, NC in 1933. He received a scholarship to attend Rollins College where he earned a degree in Business Administration and played on the baseball team, rowed crew and was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity. Upon graduation, he began a lifelong career in banking that lasted until his retirement from SunTrust in 1998. Before his retirement, he held various positions at four other financial institutions, including President of Century Bank of Orange County which merged with SunTrust.

Aside from banking, he was involved in various roles in his community of Ft. Lauderdale, FL.  He helped build the International Museum of Cartoon Art in Boca Raton and served as a trustee of the Greater Ft. Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce and the Ft. Lauderdale Historical Society. He was also a former director of the Miami branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta.  An avid golfer, he served as an officer and director of the Honda Classic PGA golf tournament.

He was a lifelong Baptist where he served as a Deacon and sang in the choir.

He is preceded in death by his parents Ethel Robinson and James Robinson, his siblings, Sybil Padgett, John Robinson and William Robinson.He is survived by his wife Norma Robinson, his children Susan Zieman (Paul) and Stephanie Robinson and grandchildren Jack and Luke Zieman.  He is also survived by step children, Brenda Knill, Shannon Craig, Brian Colin Craig and Edward Joseph Craig II. He is survived also by his sisters in law, Elsie Robinson (Bill), Margaret Robinson (John) as well as several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life/visitation will be held on Friday, June 10th at Old Natchez Country Club from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m.  A private family burial will be held at a later date.
