James Howarth

December 20, 1951 — October 16, 2021

Nashville

James Howarth was the love of my life and my darling husband.  He loved God, his wife Rebecca Howarth, his son James K. Howarth, our dogs “Star” and “Boxer.”

He loved his family and friends. He was a wonderful husband and a great father to our son James Howarth.  When our son was young, James used to take him to Taekwondo lessons at least three times a week!  He was a good influence on our son.  He encouraged him to participate in many Taekwondo tournaments in which he won many trophies and awards.

He was a kind man who never met a stranger. He would give you the shirt off of his back if you needed it.  If you were hungry he would buy you something to eat.

If you were interested in learning biblical Hebrew he would volunteer his time to teach you everything he knew about the Hebrew language and the Bible.  His knowledge of the Hebrew language inspired other people to want to learn biblical Hebrew.

He kept me entertained for many years with his wonderful sense of humor and his dancing!   He made me smile everyday with his funny stories, his sense of humor and his great dancing.

He loved to travel.  Even though he moved away from Chicago when he was three years old he has never stopped loving that city and the variety of wonderful food they had available.  He loved to take the road less traveled and drive along back country roads just to see what new things he could find.

He loved his country.  He served in the US Army Reserves for 13 years.  He was active duty during Desert Storm.  He served the Veterans every day while he worked at the VA Medical Center in Nashville.

If you were from Greenbrier, Tennessee you might have known him as “Wolf”.  If you worked at the VA Hospital you might have known him as “Superman” because he dressed up like Superman for Halloween a couple of times.  Or you might have known him by his “Mick Jagger” impersonation during a contest at the VA.  If you were a local or tourist that visited or worked in the Honky Tonks on Broadway you might have known him as
“The Nashville Clogger.”  You may have seen him at “The Long Hollow Pike Jamboree.”  He used to love dancing at Chevys and later with the Nashville Be-Bop club.   He has made countless people laugh and smile over the years with his sense of humor and dancing!

At the young age of 62 he entered his first bodybuilding competition.  He inspired others to workout.  They were amazed that he was in such great shape at his age.  He continued to work out for many years!

No one will miss him more than his wife and son.  We will cherish his memory forever!
