Walter Glenn Bowron Jr, 75, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2026.
Born in Birmingham, Alabama, he was raised in Montgomery, Alabama by his single mother in the mid 1950’s. He played football growing up and the coaches became his father figures, and he was grateful for each of them.
He received his BS in Accounting from the University of Alabama, where he also was a member of the fraternity Sigma Alpha Epsilon. He became a CPA and worked for multiple companies in that capacity. He advanced in his accounting skills and worked for companies as Corporate Controller including Hospital Affiliates (later HCA), Venture Trucking, and SMS Holdings.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Parson (Bowron), daughter Ansley Wells, (Christopher), son Walter Glenn Bowron III (Crystal), step daughters Leigh Hill, Margeaux Nichols (Tim), and Julie Vasey (Brett). He is also survived by grandchildren who affectionately called him Old Man: Cooper, Charlie, and Caroline Wells, Hunter, Grayson, and Hailey Bowron, Cayden and Riley Nichols. Also survived by brother Warren Bowron (Rhonda), Step Brother Bob Ashurst (Sally), and cousin Anne Pierce (Fielding).
He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Glenn Bowron, and mother, Nancy Belser Ashurst.
He loved college football, church activities including Room in the Inn, and being involved in the lives of family and friends. He was passionate about helping mothers in crisis pregnancies and sharing the gospel on the streets of Nashville. He lived to serve and help others, whether brand new or long time friend.
He was generous with his time, wisdom, and sharing his faith in Christ to all around him.
