Theodore “Ted” Edgar Carson, 73, of Erin, Tennessee, passed away on May 3, 2024 after an extended long term illness. He is preceded in death by his parents, Amos and Juanita Carson; sister Donna Carson Underwood; and brother Barry Carson. He is survived by his wife, Donna Walden Carson–a marriage that spanned 52 years; his daughters, Dara Carson and Kari Carson Wilson; granddaughters, Abigail Wilson and Olivia Wilson; and brother, Mark Carson. He is also survived and deeply missed by his dog, Max; cat, Smokey; and grand dog, Dolly.
Ted Carson was a beloved member of his community of Erin, Tennessee. He retired from Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), a career that he deeply loved. His free time was spent serving his community as a city of Erin Alderman, a member of Erin United Methodist Church, an active member of the Democratic Party, and an overall lover of humanity.
One would be hard pressed to find anyone who didn’t love Ted: he was a friend to all, and his entire life was led by loving his neighbor. His favorite topics were often related to music, farm, garden, and family, as his entire world revolved around growing things from love. His homegrown tomatoes and watermelons will especially be missed by anyone fortunate enough to receive his regular garden offerings.
Ted was passionate about animals, nature, deep conversations, Martin guitars, and good meals. Anyone who was lucky enough to be in his life is certainly missing him, but have no doubt they were loved and treasured. His gentle kindness and unfailing support will be his legacy, as we all commit his beautiful gift of presence to our memories.
In keeping with Ted’s wishes, there will be a celebration of life party in his daughter’s garden around his birthday in July. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to Erin United Methodist Church.
