Stanley Lee McCoy, Sr. passed away on March 15, 2026.
He was born on July 27, 1959, in Metropolis, Illinois, to the late C.A. McCoy and Irene Milsap McCoy, who survives him.
He is survived by his children, Dessica McCoy and Stanley Drew McCoy, whom he shared with his former wife, Hattie Mae McCoy; his mother, Irene McCoy; and his siblings, Daryl McCoy, Charlene McCoy, and Andrew McCoy. He was later married to Sharon Kimball McCoy, and they had no children together.
He worked in warehouse and sales positions before later becoming an unarmed security guard, including roles at Kroger and in a hospital.
He was a quiet man who mostly kept to himself, but he also had the gift of gab and could carry a conversation when he chose. He enjoyed drawing—especially for his children—and found comfort in simple routines. His favorite show was Gunsmoke, and he had a love for old-time westerns. He also took pride in dressing well. In his later years, he attended church.
He lived life on his own terms and leaves behind the memories he shared with those who knew him.
