Captain’s Log: this is Roberto “Tico” “Bob” Dias Leme, Captain of the Starship Superposition. I have made course for the afterlife to better understand Quantum Physics.
I leave behind my cherished bride of 41 years, Katherine , my 4 wonderful children, Kellie, Robin, David, and Michael and his wife Francie; my beautiful, bright grandkids, Dylan & Taylor Brooks, Emerson & Enzo Leme, and Kinsley Turner. I also leave my lovingly emotional and supportive sister, Paula, and my two brilliant nephews, Daniel & Benjamin Meza and their families.
My Dad, Josè Roberto Dias Leme and my Mom, Dolores Paula Leme, having pre-deceased me, instilled a thirst for knowledge, a passion for justice, and a love of music in me from an early age. The mischief I made or got into was all my own doing!
Kate and I were recently reflecting on what a charmed 76 years I’ve led. And if you knew me, I most likely regaled you with at least one of my, hopefully humorous, tales. I loved to tell my stories!
Some of my life’s highlights included:
Sports were important to me, particularly soccer. I was a lifelong Brazilian Soccer fan. I even coached all of my kids in soccer as they grew up.
My love of music found me at Woodstock as a stage hand in the summer of ‘69.
I was Honorably discharged from the US Army in 1970.
In my post-Army, hippie days, I traveled across the US and then became a courier in Europe for the International Coffee Organization, London, England.
In the early 1990s I joined the Ashburn Volunteer Fire Department where I served for over 10 years and did what I could to help my community. Working with this crew of incredible people became some of my favorite memories and I was proud to have been a part of this brotherhood for the rest of my life.
I also had the opportunity to teach a semester of Middle School Physics and I often said it was one of my favorite jobs!
My favorite moments were those spent through the eyes and imagination of my own kids and grand kids. Whether it was overcoming fear, mending a broken heart, or playing a song for all to sing along to, I sought to manifest patience and love.
My life was full and joyful, and because I always had the craving to learn new things, you best believe that I’m checking out the Akashic Records and having philosophical discussions with the great minds of the ages, playing guitar with Luiz Bonfà, and cracking jokes with Robin Williams! I’ve moved on, and yet I’m still with you! That’s the beautiful thing about crossing the bridge; your energy is infinite! See you on the other side…but take your time!
This will be my final transmission.
Captain Bob…out!
