Phillip Howard Hudgins, age 65 of Goodlettsville, TN passed away Thursday, June 16, 2016. Mr. Hudgins was born September 23, 1950 in Madison, TN to Grover Bernell Hudgins and the former Helen Rebecca McKeel.Mr. Hudgins worked as a welder, operating H&J Fabricating, Inc. in Goodlettsville for many years. He was gifted in his trade and it has been said that "he could weld wood to water". He served his community as firefighter with the Goodlettsville Fire Department, achieving the rank of Captain before retirement. He attended church at Jesus Reigns Fellowship where he served as head barbeque chef. He will long be remembered as a master joke and storyteller, and biscuit maker.He was preceded in death by his father, Grover B. Hudgins; mother, Helen Rebecca Hudgins Lipscomb; brother, Wayne Hudgins; and sisters, Norma Jones and Laverne Yates.He is survived by his daughter, Ali (Shane) Toll; grandchildren, Tucker Toll and Adeline Toll; spouse, Jacqueline McDaniel Hudgins; brothers, William (Joyce) Hudgins and James (Cheryl) Hudgins; sisters, Sue (Bill) Holman and Audrey (Tom) Stuart; step-daughters, Lindsay (Buddy) Cates and Ashley (Daryl) Yearwood; step-grandchildren, Rebecca Cates, Alyssa Cates, Jordan Cates and Londyn Cates; and countless “second daughters”.A celebration of Mr. Hudgins' life will be conducted at 6:00 P.M., Friday, June 24, 2016 at Jesus Reigns Fellowship, 390 Pee Dee Branch Road in Cottontown, TN, with Pastor Chet Murrell officiating. The family will receive visitors on Friday from 4:00 P.M. until the time of service at the church. A graveside service will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, June 25, 2016 at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Goodlettsville, TN. Honorary pallbearers are Phillip Gibson, Buddy Cates, James B. Hudgins, Joe Beach, Danny Hudgins and Ron Kizer.He loved people, and he had an especially soft spot for children. For this reason, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Goodlettsville Fire Department's Kids Christmas Fund via Simmons Bank in Goodlettsville, in lieu of flowers. So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10
