Martha Mitchell

January 7, 1955 — March 28, 2023

On Saturday, March 25, 2023, Martha Mitchell, loving wife, mother of two, and grandmother of two, passed away at the age of 68. Martha was born on January 7, 1955, in Maryville, TN to Mary and Bennett Hunt. On January 13, 1979, she married her best friend, Michael Kelly Mitchell and they raised two daughters, Bee and Rebecca. On September 15, 2007, Rebecca married Jacob Spray whom Martha loved as a son. Rebecca and Jacob blessed her with two grandchildren, Christopher, 17, and Alex, 14. Martha had a passion for crocheting and creating different unique crafts. There are many babies out there that stayed warm with the beautiful blankets she would make for them. Her favorite past-time was watching cooking shows and making delicious meals with her family. She would be the first to help out with all church and work potlucks to make sure it was organized and cleaned up at the end. She loved spending time with her family and taking care of others above her own needs. Her friends became a part of the family and took her daughter's friends under her wings like hers. She was known for her compassion and for being a listening ear for those who needed to talk. She would spend hours on the phone with her friends to make they were smiling by the end of the conversation. Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Mitchell, her mother, Mary Baker Hunt, and her father Bennett Hunt. She is survived by her two children, Rebecca and Bee, son-in-law, Jacob, and two grandchildren, Christopher and Alex.
