Marion Williams

Marion Jackson Williams, age 85, went home peacefully to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 7, 2018. He was born in Morrison, TN on September 23, 1933.Jack was a graduate of Hume-Fogg High School in Nashville, TN in 1951. As a teenager, he worked as a "Newsie" selling new papers on West End Avenue and also as a skate fitter at the Hippodrome Roller Rink where he was known by his friends as "Willie".He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War as an Air Operations Specialist earning the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was honorably discharged from service in 1957.Jack's professional career began as a home appraiser in the early 1960's. He was promoted to vice president and chief mortgage loan officer and chief appraiser with Home Federal Savings and Loan located in the L&C Tower in downtown Nashville. In 1975, he set out as an entrepreneur to open his own construction business (Centennial Builders) developing subdivisions, custom homes, rental properties and office buildings in the greater Nashville area. He also did many government projects across the state of Tennessee. He retired from his construction business in 1998.Jack met the love of his life, Nellie Jean Tuttle of Hot Springs, Arkansas, in the summer of 1957 and they were married on April 12, 1958. Jack and Jean enjoyed a wonderful Christ centered marriage of 60 years together.He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Tucker and Lucy Mae Williams of Nashville, TN and his sister, Jane Evelyn Davenport of Lebanon, TN.He is survived by his wife, Jean Williams of Nashville, TN; daughters, Sharon Haney (Mark) of Nashville, TN and Susan Sadler (Randy) of Franklin, TN; sons, Jeff Williams (Susie) of Nashville, TN and Hunter Williams (Angie) of Smyrna, TN; sister, Mary R. Allen of Smyrna, TN and ten grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and eight nieces and nephews.Visitation and funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 10, 2018 in the sanctuary of Bellevue Baptist Church, 7400 Highway 70 S, Nashville, TN 37221. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Funeral Service will immediately follow at 12:30 p.m.Graveside services with military honors at Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery will be private.In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Alive Hospice, 1718 Patterson St, Nashville, TN 37203.
