John Leonard Sisk

December 11, 1949 — September 11, 2023

Nashville

John Leonard Sisk, Jr. died peacefully on September 11, 2023, surrounded by his children. Born on December 11, 1949, to the late John Leonard Sisk and Margaret Richardson Sisk, he is survived by his children John Sisk III (Nicole), William Sisk (Leanna), and Nancy Sisk Lempesis (Peter); grandchildren Sarah Sisk, Emma Sisk, Sadie Sisk, Jack Sisk, Grace Lempesis and Will Lempesis; and sister Mary Ann Sisk Drumel (David), along with many nieces and nephews.

John grew up in Nashville, attending Woodmont Elementary School and graduated in the last class of West High School, where he was a multi-sport athlete. He then attended Memphis State University before settling back in Nashville and starting his family and business, Sisk Printing Services. John loved all things sports and spent countless hours playing basketball, whether with his children in the backyard or with his many friends at the Green Hills YMCA, where his unselfish style of play and "unguardable" laser-like jump shot endeared him to everyone. He was also a talented artist, who loved painting and sketching drawings in his makeshift studio with his kids. And there was no place he loved more than the beach, soaking up the sun and diving through ocean waves, the bigger, the better. John's dry, quick-witted sense of humor and good nature drew smiles from anyone who crossed his path. Most of all, he loved his children and grandchildren - he was so proud of them.

John's family thanks the incredible nurses and doctors in the Vanderbilt ICU who cared for him during the last two weeks of his life.

A celebration of John's life will be held at the Green Hills YMCA on Thursday, September 28 at 10:30 with Susan Gray officiating. In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to the Green Hills Y, 4041 Hillsboro Circle, Nashville, TN 37215.

Nashville Cremation Center is honored to be entrusted with handling Mr. Sisk's arrangements. Please visit his guestbook to leave a thoughtful note for the family.
