Jan Lotterer, Long-Time Vanderbilt Staff Member, Dies at 63; Services To Be Tuesday at Scarritt Bennett Center Jan Lotterer of Nashville, a long-time fixture at Vanderbilt University Medical Center until her retirement in 2013, died Saturday, June 20. She was 63. Jan was born in Newton, Iowa, in 1951. She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard Lotterer and Darleen Lotterer, and her sister, Jaynne Reed. Survivors include her sister, Judy Young, and her husband, Jeff; several nieces and nephews, and countless friends.She first joined Vanderbilt as a secretary in the Clinical Research Center. Over the next 40 years, she served in administrative roles for top VUMC executives, including vice chancellors, medical school deans and Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center directors. During her tenure at Vanderbilt, Jan participated in many important events at the medical center, from graduations and reunions to fund-raisers and board meetings. Jan loved her work, her colleagues and the adventures and opportunities that Vanderbilt offered her. Friends and family will miss her contagious laughter, her mischievous sense of humor and her quiet effectiveness and dependability. A member of Judson Baptist Church, Jan enjoyed working with the youth choir and singing in the adult choir.A memorial service will be Tuesday, June 23, at 4 p.m. at the Vanderbilt Wightman Chapel, Scarritt Bennett Center, 1008 19 th Avenue South, Nashville, TN 37212.Jan thanks her many friends, family and colleagues for their love and support.
