Jamse Russell Linkous passed away peacefully on July 19, 2025, at the age of 65. Born in Smyrna, Tennessee, and raised in Murfreesboro, he was a man who deeply loved his family, his friends and the simple joys of life. Whether riding motorcycles, working with his hands to fix just about anything, or spending time outdoors, James found happiness in the freedom of the open road and the satisfaction of a job well done. He also had a lifelong passion for classic cars, which always brought a sparkle to his eye.
James was preceded in death by his parents, James and Wilma Linkous, his brother Raymer Patterson and his sister, Pam Patterson.
He is survived by his devoted wife, LeAnn Linkous; his daughter, Angela Thompson and her husband Clay Thompson; and his beloved granddaughter, Evie Thompson. He is also survived by his sisters, Susan Whitely (Gary Whitely) and Paula Miller (Stephen Miller) of Arizona; and a cherished extended family of nieces and nephews, including Cari Patterson, Dana Jarman (Jim Jarman), Brooke Robinson (Jamie Robinson), Matt Hinds (Jen Hinds) of Arizona and Matthew Handley. James also leaves behind several great-nieces and great-nephews, who brought him joy.
James will be remembered for his big heart, his humor, and the way he made others feel welcome and loved. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will forever ride on in the lives of those who knew and loved him.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 16th, at 2 pm in Thompson Hall at St. Patrick’s Anglican Church in Murfreesboro. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Hospital.
