Obituary

Helen Louise Scroggins, 84, passed away on June 27, 2026, in Nashville, Tennessee.

Helen was born on April 6, 1942, in Grass Valley, California, to Richard and Helen Allred. She lived a life defined by faith, generosity, compassion, and unwavering love for her family and community.

She earned an Associate of Arts degree from American River College and devoted nearly 40 years of service as an accountant for the States of California and Oregon before retiring in 2008.

Helen found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved working puzzles while listening to old country classics, knitting, playing bingo, and was an avid and accomplished bowler. Her Christian faith was the foundation of her life, and she cherished spending time with her Bible study group. She was a faithful member of Byrdstown Baptist Church and Life Church in Livingston.

During the last ten years of her life, Helen combined her love of knitting with her heart for serving others by lovingly creating hats and blankets that she donated to the VA Hospital in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Her quiet acts of kindness brought warmth and comfort to countless veterans, reflecting the generous and selfless spirit that defined her life.

Helen will be remembered as a kind, loving, easygoing, charitable, and giving woman whose greatest joy came from caring for others. Her gentle heart, warm smile, and steadfast faith touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

She is lovingly survived by her children, Richard Miles, Randy Miles, and Jeanelle Smith; her grandchildren, Mauranda, Jessica, Alisen, Ian, Ricky, and Ashlee; her great-grandchildren, Irving and Elias; her sister, Barbara Coppock; and her nephew, Bobby Benninger.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Helen Allred; her sisters, Nina Hammock and Darlene Benninger; and her brother, Michael Allred.

Helen's legacy of faith, love, generosity, and service will continue to live on in the hearts of her family, friends, church family, and all whose lives she touched. She will be deeply missed but joyfully remembered, with the comfort of knowing she is now at peace in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
