Helen Frances Green, the eldest daughter of the late Lucille Lillian Price Green and James Parker Green, Sr., passed away surrounded by the love of her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; her only brother, James “Jimmy” Parker Green, Jr.; her sisters JoAnn Green Riddle, Judy Green McAdams, and Sherron Green Wakefield; and her son-in-law, Marvin H. Lanham, Jr.
Helen received her education at Tar Box School, Howard School, and Hume-Fogg Vocational Technical High School.
She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Green Lanham, and her son, Paul Edward (Patricia Knies) Green. Helen was blessed with five grandchildren: Charles “Tommy” (Tiffany) Widener, Shelia Green (Robin) Underwood, Trisha (Matthew) King, Marvin “Trey” (Kara) Lanham III, and Paul Andrew (Shauna) Green; as well as great-grandchildren Jordan and Brody Widener; Raeley Underwood; Camden Underwood; Bella King; Kaelynn Green, Aubrey Green and Andrew Green.
Helen is also survived by her sisters Evelyn (Roy) Whitehead, Sr. of Mount Juliet, and Jane (Rick) Carver of Mount Pleasant, Tennessee; her brothers-in-law Phillip (Judy) Green of Joelton, and Dennis (Shelia) Green of Ashland City; along with extended family members, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many cherished family members and friends.
Helen was a devoted Jehovah’s Witness and faithfully observed her beliefs throughout her life, including her choice not to celebrate holidays or birthdays.
In accordance with Helen’s wishes, no funeral service will be held. A private burial for Helen and her husband, Charles, will take place at a later date in Hermitage Memorial Gardens.
