Harriet Sue Ergle

Harriet Sue Ergle, 89 of Nashville TN passed away peacefully on October 11, 2025.

She was born on December 26th, 1935, in Memphis TN to Lalah and Harry Barker.

Harriet Sue Ergle, 89, of Nashville Tennessee, passed away on October 11, 2025. She was born on December 26, 1935 in Memphis, Tennessee to Lalah and Harry Barker. Sue (as she liked to be called) graduated from Central High School in Memphis in 1953. Sue also attended college at Mississippi College receiving a BS in Education in 1956. She then attended Memphis State University where she received a Masters in Sociology while completing Doctorial coursework in Sociology. Sue went on to have a 47 year long career as an educator and capable of teaching 5 subjects. Sue taught in the Memphis City School system for 33 years and also taught at the Aiken Community Collage a branch of the University Of South Carolina in Akien, South Carolina for 14 years. She was an avid reader and a foodie.

Sue is survived by her two children Laura Jeanne Lowe of Fairview Tennessee and Michael Robert Lowe of Nashville Tennessee also her grandson Edison Laurence Haggard of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. She was preceded in death by her parents Lalah and Harry Barker and her brother Carl Barker.
