George "Frank" Oakes Jr., a devoted family man, respected professional, and cherished member of his church community, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2026, in Nashville, Tennessee. Born on November 26, 1953, in Greenville, Mississippi, Frank’s life was marked by dedication, kindness, and a sincere commitment to those around him.
Frank attended Southwest Mississippi Junior College, where he played trumpet in the college jazz band. He later graduated from Southern Miss, laying the foundation for a successful career defined by both perseverance and excellence. After working many years as a territory representative for Royal Cruise Line, Frank joined MetLife as a MetLife Auto and Home agent. Over more than 20 years with MetLife, Frank earned multiple awards as a lead agent in the United States for his outstanding service and dedication.
Frank was deeply committed to his faith and found great fulfillment serving many years as a Stephen Minister, providing compassionate care and encouragement to those in need. His devotion to his church was an integral part of his life.
Known for his warm and generous spirit, Frank had a remarkable ability to make everyone he met feel special and blessed. His genuine kindness and thoughtful nature left a lasting impact on all who knew him. Above all, Frank treasured his family and found boundless joy in their presence.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Carolyn Oakes; son, Wes (Lauren) Oakes; step-sons David (Shari) Boyd and John Boyd; grandchildren Hudson and Beckett Oakes, Lexi Boyd, and Knox Watkins; brother Scott (Denise) Oakes; and sisters Ky Stubblefield and Lea (Kevin) Touchstone. Frank was predeceased by his dear parents, Frank and Betty Oakes.
Family, friends, and all who were touched by Frank’s life will gather for a visitation with family on June 20, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Calvary United Methodist Church, located at 3701 Hillsboro Pike, Nashville, TN 37215. This will be followed immediately by a memorial service at 2:00 PM to honor and celebrate his life.
Frank’s legacy of compassion, dedication, and love will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be remembered not only for his accomplishments but for the profound impact he made through his kindness and steadfast commitment to family and faith.
