Gene Widener

Mr. Gene Lester Widener age 83 of White Bluff, Tennessee passed away Friday, June 22, 2018. He was surrounded by his family.Born June 20, 1935 in Dickson, Tennessee to the late Lester and Clara Deal Widener.Gene retired from the Ford Glass Plant, after more than 32 years of service. He attended the Burns Church of Christ. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps.His family will remember him as a hardworking man, who provided for his family. He was a skilled craftsman and could build just about anything. He loved his four legged baby "Rose".He is survived by his wife of almost 63 years Joan Hunt Widener, his sons: Genie (Connie) Widener, and Jeffrey Widener, his daughter: Stephane (Jeff) Murphy, Grandchildren: Joshua Widener, Jeremy Widener, Patience Stamps, Brandon Petty, Justin Petty and Haley Widener, and 8 great grandchildren.Visitation will be Monday, June 25, 2018 from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at Bellevue Baptist Church, 7400 Hwy 70-South, Nashville, TN 37221. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 PM with Dr. Mike Shelton and Bobby Strickland officiating.Interment will be 10:00 AM Thursday, June 28, 2018 at Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery.Memorials may be directed to The Nashville Humane Association, 213 Oceola Ave, Nashville, TN 37209
