Fred Waymack Jr.

April 20, 1951 — July 13, 2016

Fred Lorenzo Waymack Jr., age 65 of Nashville, TN passed away July 13, 2016. He was born in Raleigh, NC on April 20, 1951 to Fred Sr. and Margarett Elizabeth Perry Waymack.Fred was a kind, loving and generous husband, father and friend to many. He cherished spending time with his children, grandchildren and sitting cuddled next to Baxter and Lucky on the living room sofa. The Waymack family cabin, located on the shores of Deer Creek on a tributary off the Tennessee River, was where he communed with God and nature, steering his pontoon up and down the busy waterway and carefully avoiding wakes caused by Ingram barges, fought with red spider mites on evergreens planted around the deck and routinely pistol practiced on unwelcomed and invasive armadillos who liked to dig holes into the underground water well.Fred's culinary skills and love of preparing gourmet recipes for others delighted the palates of family, friends and even persons he barely knew as he often prepared appetizers, entrees or deserts for Dale's office colleagues or choir friends. His Christmas morning pitchers of Bloody Mary's were a long-standing tradition as family gathered for Brunch. Fred never met a stranger and was able to talk to anyone about most anything, including opposing political views while respecting differences that might exist between family and friends.Throughout Fred's life, he was drawn to music, especially the trumpet and piano, and played professionally during the years between finishing his Masters in Music Education at Peabody College and ‘getting a real job' as Marketing Director for International Travel, Inc. He went on to become owner of the travel agency, specializing in group travel with high school bands bound for the annual bowl game parades, especially the Fiesta, Rose, and Orange Bowls.Fred's family includes his wife and partner of 40 years, Dale Rust Waymack; adult children, Anna Gray Crecraft (Matt) and Cullen Waymack; grandsons, Daniel, Matthew and soon-to-be born, Sam, who will never meet his Papa but will certainly know him and love him through shared stories and memories of family and friends.A service celebrating Fred's life will be held at 3 P.M., Sunday July 17, 2016 at First Unitarian Universalist Church of Nashville, 1808 Woodmont Blvd., Nashville, TN.Memorial contributions may be made to two of Fred's favorite non-profits, Tennessee Donor Services, www.donatelifetn.org who facilitated his own receipt of a kidney that extended his life by eight years; and Critter Cavalry, 608 Eastcastle Ct., Franklin, TN 37069-4016, a dog rescue organization that was dear to Fred because he found his shadow, Baxter, through their services.
