Edwin Patrick Carter, 77, of Lebanon, TN, passed away on January 20, 2026, at the Tri Star Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, TN.
Pat was born on November 20, 1948, in Franklin, KY to James Arnett and Elduth Adell (Trammel) Carter. The family traveled around the United States and Eastern Canada where Pat quickly learned how to make friends creating a network of friends that he kept in touch with throughout his lifetime. Pat graduated high school in Taylor, MI. He was a talented craftsman and was a general contractor until his later years, but he was the go-to in his community if someone needed something built or fixed.
Pat will be remembered for his charismatic personality. He lived life taking risks and challenges not wanting to be outdone by anyone. Pat enjoyed sky diving, skateboarding, even into his last days, and spending time on the Cumberland River where his soul found a calmness keeping him in Lebanon for the last 19 years. Pat touched the lives of many throughout his lifetime. The last 19 years he lived in a tight-knit community where they watched out for their friends and neighbors, helping each other with whatever they could.
Pat is survived by his best companion Tizzy, a Kooikerhondje, a Dutch bird hunting dog; his siblings, David (Mim) Carter of Maine; Debbie (Paul) Cox of Utah; Tim (Rita) Carter of Kentucky; and Cathie (Bill) Bradbury of Montana. Many cousins, nieces, nephews as well as great nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his family, close friends, Mel Gibson, Joe Johnson, Jim Bob and the Lebanon community members he so dearly thought of as family. Pat was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Adell Carter, and grandparents, Gilbert and Ella Trammel and Lee and Clara Carter and cousins, Alex Carter and Charles Cliburn. Many aunts and uncles as well.
A memorial service/celebration of life will be held at a future time by his Lebanon community in the near future, to take place on the banks of the Cumberland River that gave him the most joy. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a humane society in your community in Pat’s memory.
The family wishes to thank Pat’s Lebanon community for their love and support. Rebecca, a caring nurse in the CCU at Tri Star Centennial Medical Center, and others who offered care to Pat throughout the years.
