Dora E. Garrett, age 80 of Smyrna, TN passed away April 19, 2017 in Nashville, TN. Mrs. Garrett was born in Houston, MS on February 20, 1937 to I.A. and Pearlene Douglas Buchanan.She was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church. She had a long career working in several positions in the healthcare industry.Mrs. Garrett was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Paul Garrett.She is survived by her daughters, Laura Buchanan of Parsons, TN and Paula (James) Davis of Nashville, TN; surrogate daughter, Anta (James) Dozier of Nashville, TN; sister, Dessie L. White of Indianapolis, IN; grandchild, Shonta Buchanan of Parsons, TN, surrogate grandchildren, Vincent Carter of Clarksville, TN, Brittney Dozier and Whitney Dozier, both of Nashville, TN and Jessica L. Johnson of LaVergne, TN; great-grandchildren, De’Arius Buchanan and Deondre’ Buchanan, both of Parsons, TN; surrogate great-grandchildren, Javon Carter and Valencia Carter of Clarksville, TN; niece, Darlene White-Patterson and Tina (Marvin) Foster of Indianapolis, IN; and many other family members and friends.Services will be private.
