Donna Secrest Robinson passed away on February 19, 2026 in Nashville, TN at the age of 87. Donna was born in Martins Ferry, OH. She attended Bethany College and Ohio State before leaving to spend a year in France. Upon returning to the United States, she moved to Chicago, IL to start her career. It was there that she met her husband, James Robinson. After marriage, they moved to Miami, FL, where she and her husband set down roots and started the family she cherished above all else. When her husband’s career brought them to Orlando, she devoted herself wholeheartedly to raising her children, creating a home filled with warmth, laughter, and unwavering support. Later, life carried them to Fort Lauderdale, where she continued to nurture her family with the same steady love and quiet strength that defined her.
In time, she fulfilled a long-held dream by moving to Black Mountain, NC, drawn by the promise of four true seasons. There, surrounded by the beauty of the mountains, she found special joy in watching the autumn leaves turn brilliant colors. The changing seasons reflected her own embrace of life’s new chapters.
Upon the birth of her first grandson, her heart expanded in a whole new way. Eager to be close to her growing family, she moved to Nashville to dote on her grandsons. Nothing brought her greater joy than being Nanny – attending milestones, sharing stories, offering hugs and creating treasured memories that will live on in their hearts forever.
One of her most meaningful ministries was through handwritten letters. She faithfully kept in touch with friends and loved ones throughout her life, sending notes filled with encouragement, Scripture and love. Many will forever treasure the cards and letters written by her hand – tangible reminders of her thoughtful and caring spirit.
While in Nashville she continued to be active in the church and loved the time she spent teaching the JOY class Sunday school and spending time with friends.
She was a loving mother, a devoted grandmother and a friend to so many. Her faith and love for the Lord were always at the forefront of her life and she wanted to share that faith with others. Her faith guided her steps and shaped the kindness she showed to everyone she met. We are comforted in knowing that she is now resting peacefully in the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Don and Laura Secrest, and step-mother, Jane Secrest. She is survived by her children, Susan Zieman (Paul) and Stephanie Robinson, and grandchildren, Jack Zieman (Alex) and Luke Zieman (Stuart). She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Elsie Robinson as well as several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at The Church at Harpeth Heights, 8063 Hwy 100, Nashville, TN 37221 on Tuesday, March 3nd, from 2-3 with a memorial service immediately following.
