Donald Voorhees

Donald R. Voorhees, age 78 of La Vergne, TN, formerly of Ithaca, NY, gained his angel wings and peacefully passed at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, TN on Friday, August 3, 2018 after a short illness. He was born October 9,1939, the son of the late Walter and Etta Voorhees.He was dearly loved by all for being a dedicated father, grandfather, husband, uncle and good friend. Don loved his family, hunting, fishing, the outdoors and NASCAR.Mr. Voorhees was preceded in death by his parents, 13 siblings, wife, Vi and step-son, Kenny Hoover.He is survived by his daughter, Debbie (Kevin) Young of La Vergne, TN, who he had been living with for the last month. He is also survived by daughters, Doreen Voorhees of FL and Denise Voorhees of TN; Donny Carl (a nephew whom was viewed as a son); step-children, Connie Clark and Peggy Swansbrough; grandchildren, Christina (Davis) Knowlton, Wayne Voorhees, and others.A memorial gathering will be arranged at a later time as one of his last wishes at one of his favorite places to be.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association in his name.
