Dawn Catherine Gollihugh (née Ramer), born December 14, 1954, in Georgia, passed away on November 24, 2025, in Dover, Tennessee, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Dawn spent much of the first half of her life in South Carolina, where she built lasting memories—and famously met the father of her children by dumping a beverage on his head, a story that perfectly captured her bold spirit and sense of humor. They would divorce after eleven years of marriage. She then served her country by joining the United States Army, where she worked as a radio repair technician, before finally settling in Dover, Tennessee.
An avid reader, Dawn could often be found lost in a book, and she held a lifelong love for the beach, finding peace in the sound of the waves and the pull of the tide. She was known for her independence, resilience, and quiet strength, traits that carried her through every chapter of her life, including the final chapter, choosing to battle cancer alone.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Dot, in 2001; her father, Bertin 2023; and her former husband, Stan, in 2023.
Dawn is survived by her three children, Angie, Barbara, and Lee, two step children, Jesse and Anni, her seven grandchildren, Dylan, Ian, Brandon, LJ, Ava, Luna, and Elizabeth; her dear friend Gladys; and her friend and roommate, Travis.
A small portion of Dawn’s ashes will be scattered at her mother’s and grandmother’s burial sites during a private ceremony. A separate portion will be scattered at the beach at a later date, returning her to a place she loved
