February 5, 1947-July 23, 2020 Charlie past away at the age of 73 on Thursday July 23, 2020 at the Jackson-Madison County Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee due to heart complications and the Covid -19 virus. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary DeMardes Currin; his parents, Van Buren and Helen Pauline Currin; and his brothers, Don and Gene Paul Currin.He is survived by his wife, Jane M. Currin of Columbus, Mississippi; his son, Charles Van Currin (Chip) Jr. (Ralanna Carney); granddaughters Kassidy, Addison, Makenna, and Paisley of Thompsonville, Illinois; also a brother, Glenn Currin of Fayetteville, Tn. and a sister-in-law,Betty Currin of Tullahoma, Tn.; a brother- in-law, William Steven DeMardes of Nashville, Tn.When Charlie and Jane married, he inherited a whole new family, a step-daughter, Jenny (Randy) Lawrence and their children, Elizabeth (David) Richardson, Jonathan and Matt Lawrence and a mother-in-law, Louise Munson and brother-in-law, Carter Munson (Debbie Wrobleski). He is also survived by his two four legged children Captain Finnegan and Honey Bee.Charlie was born in Fayetteville, Tn. where he attended Lincoln County High School where he played football. He was always very athletic and into all sports being a very competitive person. He played softball until he was in his 50’s. He attended Belmont University. He retired from Bell South Telephone Company as a testing tech. He was a good carpenter. He and Jane were building a retreat home in Henderson, Tn. He also was a good cook. He loved the church and working with the kids. He served as a wonderful Santa Claus. He was a good singer as a soloist, in a quartet and in a choir. He enjoyed building sets for special services and drama presentations at his Nashville churches. He was a faithful member of the West Meade Fellowship and joined Jane in membership at the First United Methodist Church in Columbus, Ms. He was also very proud of the fact that he was a veteran of the Navy.Due to the Covid-19 virus, a service will be held Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at the Mid-Tennessee Veterans Cemetery on Mc Cory Lane at 11 a.m. with Dr. Denny Shepard officiating. At the present time only sixteen persons (family) are permitted into the chapel. All others must remain on the outside. There will be a guest book. All persons present must keep social distance and wear a mask. Charlie is being buried next to his first wife Mary. There will be no open casket.No flowers. Contributions are encouraged to the charity of your choice.Nashville Cremation Center is in charge of arrangements.
