Brandon Wade Wheeler passed away peacefully at home the morning of August 1st, 2025, after a three-year battle against cancer. Wade was born on February 13, 1962, to Don and Judy Wheeler in the midst of a cold Tennessee winter. Just as Wade found humor in every situation, we are broken-hearted, but will laugh again. His sense of humor was infamous, and his dry wit remained with him until the end. He came from a family where sarcastic humor was a competitive sport, of which Wade was the master and his timing was perfect.
Wade loved his children. When he found out he was going to be a father, he said, “It won’t change anything, babies just sleep all the time.” He later admitted that he might have been mistaken, but he was a doting father nonetheless. He never missed a football game, a canoe trip down the Harpeth, taking his oldest to Bonnaroo, or the opportunity to tell you about his kids. He was devoted to and proud of his sons in equal measure.
After attending David Lipscomb High School, Wade graduated from The University of Tennessee in Knoxville. It was there that he became a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity, where he forged lifelong friendships that still stand today.
In lieu of a traditional midlife crisis, Wade discovered cycling. He rode short and he rode long. He carved corners and pedaled up the Tennessee hills of the Natchez Trace Parkway, embracing the riding community and making friends along the way.
He leaves behind his cherished wife of 31 years, Jennifer, along with his two sons, Harrison and William. He is survived by his father, Don Wheeler (Jane Ann), and sisters Wendy Sullivan (Wes) and Lisa Bell. Wade is predeceased by his mother Judy Wheeler, who always liked him best. He was his mother’s son.
Everybody dies, but not everybody lives. Wade lived.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center or West End Community Church in Wade’s honor.
