Betty Jean Hunt, affectionately known as Gege, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2026, in her beloved hometown of Nashville, Tennessee. Born on October 30, 1928, as Betty Jean York, she embodied a life rich in love, resilience, and unwavering devotion to those around her.

From a young age, Betty Jean demonstrated a remarkable spirit of care and generosity. Whether tending to her younger siblings or providing steadfast support to her husband, children, grandchildren, or friends in times of need, she was a caregiver at heart. This innate kindness blossomed throughout her life's journey, leaving a lasting impact on all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Her career in property management was marked by dedication and strength; she worked diligently until the age of 89, a testament to her admirable work ethic and tenacity. Beyond her professional life, Gege found profound joy in her family, cherishing moments spent hosting festive July 4th celebrations and Christmas gatherings. These traditions were not just holidays but heartfelt opportunities to deepen bonds and create lasting memories. She especially delighted in taking the family out to Red Lobster, experiences filled with laughter and togetherness.

Betty Jean was a woman of great warmth and humor, her heart as vast as her generosity. She opened her home without hesitation to anyone in need, embodying the true meaning of hospitality and love. Her strong faith was a guiding force, as she loved both her family and God above all else.

Her creativity flourished in her later years through a love of reading and an artistic passion for coloring, predominantly floral designs. Her unique approach to color and shading brought beauty not only to her artwork but to the lives of those around her.

She is survived by several cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren who carry forward her legacy of love and kindness. Betty Jean was preceded in death by her devoted husband Randall Hunt Sr., and her sons Randall Hunt Jr., Jody Hunt, and Jamie Hunt.
