It is with deepest sorrow we announce that Barbara Anne Jack Throunk, age 76 of Hendersonville, TN, passed away on December 3, 2020.Born in Mineola, NY to Charles and Anne Jack, Barbara grew up in Rochester, NY where she graduated from Penfield High School. Barbara then spent a year in Sweden living with the family of her aunt, Sally Malmquist, where her imagination and creativity inspired an interest in textiles and fiber craft. This interest carried her to Rochester Institute of Technology for further development, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Textile Design from the School for American Craftsmen. At RIT, she met her future husband, Ronald Throunk who was studying photographic arts. After college, they began a family, raising four children together.Barbara shared her love of spinning and weaving with others through numerous school and community activities. This naturally spurred knitting, sewing and needlepoint interests as well. An avid reader, she also enjoyed theatre, and loved to travel whenever she was able. But foremost her life was fulfilled through the affection she showered on her family and friends through companionship, support and loving kindness. She and her family lived in New Orleans, Louisiana and Morgan Hill, California before retiring to Henderson, Tennessee.Barbara was preceded in death by her loving husband Ronald, her father Charles and her brother Neil.
