My mom was born in Brooklyn, lived in NY through to the 1980’s, then lived in Las Vegas till 2007, when she relocated to Nashville. Her Italian heritage was genuinely embraced throughout her life. Her first delighted discovery of Italy came as an adult when she and my Dad visited their parents' country for the first time, with many return visits. Italian style—love of family, beauty, and humor was so much a part of her. She was the epitome of “bella figura” the Italian phrase that means a sense of self-respect, decency, with a positive, generous, and elegant attitude. This extended to how she lived, how she decorated our home, what she cooked, how it was presented, and her everyday connection with people and the world. And to us, her family, especially her daughters who were joyfully guided by this philosophy of life. We were lucky to have her for her long life, but her beautiful presence will be terribly missed. She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Paulette Licitra and Nina Licitra, her son-in-law, Duane Spencer, her niece, Angela Rohen, her nephew-in-law, Mark Rohen, her nephew, John Idone, and her niece-in-law, Sunshine Pollard, and extended family and friends. Mom, ti vogliamo bene.
Paulette Licitra
