Myron Frank Tiemens, Jr., of Bell Buckle, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, March 20th, 2016, after a long illness. Myron was born May 12, 1957, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Anita Reis Tiemens and Myron Frank Tiemens, Sr.
Myron graduated from W.T. Woodson High School in Fairfax, Virginia, and studied business and industrial engineering after graduation. After several years working as a driver for UPS, he was promoted to UPS gateway manager at Dulles International Airport in Sterling, Virginia. After taking early retirement due to a diagnosis of bone-marrow cancer, he moved to Temecula, California, and then to Bell Buckle, Tennessee. While living there, Myron met and married Rezza Veloso Gollena, originally from Tacloban, Leyte, Philippines.
Upon hearing that her uncle Myron had passed away, one of Myron’s young nieces said, “I’m sorry he died, but I’m just glad he doesn’t have to lie in bed all day with nothing to do anymore.” That’s because with Myron, there was never a dull moment. He always had a construction project under way, a cause to support, a friend or family member to help, a speech to make, delicious food to prepare and eat, a plan for travel, something nice to do for his wife Rezza, a fish to catch, a telephone call to make, a news show or sports event to watch on TV, a pet or wild-animal orphan to take care of, or another conspiracy theory to hatch. He was an early adopter of technology and was always the first in his circle to own the newest gadget. Myron played several sports recreationally and was a talented artist, woodworker, and chess player.
Myron was preceded in death by his father Myron Frank Tiemens, Sr., and his brother Bruce James Tiemens.
He is survived by his wife, Rezza of Bell Buckle, TN; his mother, Anita Reis Tiemens, three sisters, Karen Eddleman (Roger Eddleman), Shepherdstown, WV, Catherine Tiemens, Manassas, VA, and Sandra Tiemens Smith (Patrick Smith), Colorado Springs, CO; two brothers, Ronald Tiemens (Laurel Holaday Tiemens), Bealeton, VA, and John Tiemens, Rockville, MD; twelve nieces and nephews in the USA, Daniel Regan and Madeline Regan Lloyd, and Heather, Reuben, Jessica, Isaac, Elijah, Joshua, Zechariah, Sierra, Mara, and Rose Tiemens. He is also survived by many relatives by marriage in the Philippines, including niece Locel Macapus and nephews Glenn, Gheboy, Gerald, Mac, and Leonel Gollena.
Myron’s friends and family will gather to celebrate his life at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, March 26, 2016, at the home shared by Myron and Rezza, 201 Matt Drive, Bell Buckle, TN.
Donations may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or to the Democratic Party.

Myron was an amazing big brother and friend! Rezza became like the little sister I always wanted. I love you both. Your love for each other was and will always be amazing! It was so much fun laughing with you guys even when Myron was super sick.
Myron had the endurance and drive that professional athletes would covet. His determination to thrive helped advance medicine in this area and allowed him to squeeze all the good out of life that he could get his mitts on. His drive continues to inspire Pat and I a great deal to push, to succeed and grab the good out of life even when the chips are down.
I cry mostly because you had to go through this, Myron. I cry that you didn’t last forever. I cry because you had such a long suffering illness and if life were fair, you wouldn’t have suffered a day in your life. The only comfort I can find and share with others that love him is ‘Pain is only temporary. Glory is forever!’

Myron was a good friend and a great brother to me. I called him my brother from another mother. We loved going fishing together and had the opportunity to go with Myron Sr. before he passed away. We also enjoyed watching sports together. We are both huge baseball fans. In 2013 in one week we went fishing 3 times, watched the World Series and watched a mini-series on the great innovators of the American industrial revolution. Myron enjoyed the most simple things better than anyone I know. Going to Lowe’s with Boca or having a burger and a beer at the Bell Buckle Café. And then he would try to explain to me how he wanted to invent something like a whole new transportation system using kudzu!! (Over my head.)
My selfishness will miss Myron but I’m sure he is scoping out all the good fishing holes in heaven…..Save some big ones for me, Brother.

Reeza, Anita, Brothers and Sisters, Family – I am so sorry to hear of Myron’s passing. I enjoyed getting to know him through Facebook and email the last few years. I was especially happy that we shared many of the same political views and was so impressed with his knowledge. I believe I only met him once or twice when we were quite young and am so glad that we had some connections later in life. I know he will be missed by all of you. Cousin, Cathy (Mel’s daughter)

Thank you for your kind words, Cathy.
