Visitation will be at St. Stephen’s Catholic Community, Mount Juliet, TN on Thursday, February 16th from 4pm – 7pmand a vigil service from 7pm – 8pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Stephen’s Catholic Community, Friday, February 17th at 9am with burial immediately following at Hermitage Memorial Gardens, Hermitage, TN. Following the burial, a reception will take place at St. Stephen’s Catholic Community.
Mary Fitzgerald Craven, 87, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died peacefully with her family at her side on Saturday, February 11, 2017.
Mary was born in St Paul, MN but spent most of her youth in Detroit and Ann Arbor, MI. She then attended and graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in Belmont, NC where she spent “the best years” of her young life. After graduating, she moved to High Point, NC and while attending High Point College she met her husband of 60 years. Mary and Tex began their married life together in Boone, NC where they had their first five children. They moved to Nashville, TN in 1956 where they had four more children and continued to raise their family. Mary enjoyed her church ministries at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and St Stephen’s Catholic Community. Her ministry touched hundreds of lives.
Mary was preceded in death by her father, Jack Fitzgerald, mother, Hazel Fitzgerald, her beloved husband, R.A. (Tex) Craven Jr., son, Michael Craven and grand daughter, Melissa Johnson.
She is survived by eight children, John Craven (Elizabeth), Susan Bernard (Wilson), Donna Downing-Corddry (David), Joseph Craven (Mary), Catherine Waters (Ford), Elizbeth Craven, Mark Craven (Linda), and James Craven (Laura). She will be missed by 17 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and many other family and friends.
