Kevin Lee Plott, Age 54
Former Kenton resident, Kevin Plott, 54, died on April 6, 2015, at his home in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
He was born in Kenton on October 30, 1960, to Delores and Edward Plott. Kevin was a seven time cancer survivor prior to eventually succumbing to melanoma. Through those challenges, he became known for his courage, strength, and unwavering positive attitude. He learned how to appreciate, respect, and love life and took great joy in lifting others up to do the same. He drew inspiration from Philippians 4:8 – “…whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, let your mind dwell on these things”.
Kevin was a graduate of Kenton High School, class of 1979. He went on to earn several college degrees from Lima Technical College, Bowling Green State University, and the University of Mississippi. He enjoyed attending World Outreach Church in Murfreesboro, TN.
He had a successful career in the field of manufacturing quality engineering with several companies, including 27 years with Whirlpool Corporation.
Kevin is survived by Delores Plott (mother) of Kenton as well as Edward Plott, Jr. (brother), Brenda (Zurcher) Plott (sister-in-law), Lindsay (Plott) Newman (niece), Sara (Plott) Blunt (niece), and four great-nephews who all live in Tennessee. Preceding him in death was his father, Edward Plott, who died in 2003.
Kevin chose cremation. A celebration of his life will be scheduled at a later date to be held in Kenton.
Memorial donations may be made in Kevin’s name to the American Cancer Society.

Dear Delores and family,
Marty and I would like to send our most sincere condolences to your family. Although I didn’t know Kevin that well…I do know he was peaceful loving person just as his mother who lives right out our back door. It is always wonderful to see her in her fantastic garden and I know Kevin knew how peaceful and thoughtful his Mother Delores is. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers.
Most sincerely,

I am really sorry to hear about Kevin. We had some really good times together and he was a great person. He always kept a positive attitude and was quick with a laugh. Looking at what all he went through just shows how much of a fighter he was. We hadn’t been in contact for a few years but I thought about him often and the memories always brought a smile to my face. May he rest in peace.

Dear Plott Family, you do not know me, and I do not know you, so let me explain why I’m writing to you. I am also a Plott, and I work in the Cafe at World Outreach Church. About a year ago, Kevin came to the Cafe to order something, and he inquired about my last name instantly (for I was wearing a name tag). We quickly discovered that we must be related somehow, since Plott is such a rare surname. Kevin continued to come to the Cafe every few weeks or so, and it was always a pleasure to chat and share such a rare and unexpected connection.
I was informed today of his passing and received the news with great sadness, even though I knew very little about Kevin. About a year and a half ago, my Dad (another Plott, of course) passed away suddenly, and it was after this event that I met Kevin at church and established another “Plott connection.” Even though I only spoke with Kevin a few times, it was a special treat to share such a unique commonality in that time and place.
My deepest condolences to you all. For each one of you, I pray you would be overwhelmed with the comfort, peace, and joy of the Lord and that your eyes would be open to see the good things He works even in the midst of the most painful circumstances.
Sincerely,
Cheyenne Plott
