“Ms Kathryn”
Kathryn Ann Roden died on April 14, 2016. She “made it” to 67!
She lived life thru rose-colored glasses (see photo proof). She was left-handed, swore by black zip front hoodies, loved Charles Bronson movies and had James Dean posters hung in her living room. She loved butterflies, hot pink, purple and drawing 4 hearts on post it notes “that’s my trademark.” She never went shopping without coupons but then usually bought 2 of things “just in case I loose or break one.” She never picked the front item “remember, they put the fresh ones in back.” She never wore the same earrings in each ear because “matching is boring.” She parked far out in parking lots because “I could use the walk.” She had 1 back scratcher by the bed & 1 on standby in her suitcase because “nothing’s worse than an itch you can’t scratch!” My entire life my mother and I talked and joked about anything and everything; I’ve asked her what I should write in her obituary “whatever you want, surprise me” Mom – I hope I surprised you and made you laugh, you are the definition of unconditional love. Damn I miss you woman, I love you, your only child (favorite by default) Tara Kathryn Roden-Robiteau & your only grandchild (favorite by default) Soleil Rainbow Monaco Robiteau who loves her “Grandma K”. Instead of flowers, call your mom & tell her you love her, play hide & seek with your grandkids, call your sister and or brother & remind them of the time you guys {fill in the blank} and have a big laugh [repeat once a month], send all of your out of town family and friends a “care package” with extra pens, notepads & a small bottle of lotion “to keep their hands soft” & a card saying “Yep I’m still here & thinking about you”, leave 1 of your shopping catalogs at your neighbors door “in case they see something they like.” She will miss her Sister = Francie Bava, Brother = William Jones, BFF = Jagir Grant, best neighbors in the world = Davina & Katie, son-in-law Nic, her Granddogs, nieces, nephews, friends and “the nice people I always see” at The Krogers down the street |

Oh Tara Honey, We’re were so sad to hear of your Loss. My Mom was my greatest loss. 4 years now and I still find a reason to cry a couple times a week. I’m glad you had the time you had with her last year here on KAUAI. Life is so short and goes by so quickly. You are right about everyone taking the time now, to let those we love, know. Sometimes Our “Wish I Had’s” are too large.
Love you Take care of you & Yours
Aloha??

I did not know her but after reading her obituary in the paper, I wish I had! That is the best sort of memorial.

I shared your mom’s obit to my friends on FB … I would have loved to have known her and wish every obit showed the funnier side of those who passed … Thanks for this and my thought & prayers are with you …

What a beautiful tribute to your mother. She was clearly an amazing person who brought joy and laughter to your life and to those around her. I wish I could have known her, but I will certainly never forget her now after reading this touching memorial. Prayers for you and your family from Memphis.

I read ms Kathryn’s obituary on Tuesday. I did not know her in this life but I will be a friend in the next. I have laughed a while and cried a while after reading her memorial. I am 69 yo and may I ask my children to use her memorial as a model for mine. No sad goodbye but great memories. God bless you all.
