James Legette Garrett age 74 of Georgetown, Texas passed away Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at Centennial Medical Center, in Nashville, Tennessee.
Known to his family and friends as “Legett”, he was retired from Texas Utility Mining Company after more than 25 years of service. Legett was an Army veteran; having served during the Vietnam era.
Anyone who knew Legett will remember his ready smile and good nature. He and his wife Sandy, spent their favorite past-time together fishing out of Rockport, Texas over the past 25 plus years.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years Sandra Janke Garrett, his daughters Kacy Cunningham (Tim Coltharp – who Legett thought could fix anything!) and Kamryn Garrett, and his Step-daughter Jennifer Linnabery (Ricky Linnabery – Legett would say “call Ricky he’ll do it!”) and his Step-son Michael Leschber who he loved to take fishing (Jenivie Leschber – also great fishing partner).
One sister: Lana Walker (Ben Walker) of Cottage Grove, Oregon
Grandchildren: Dakota, Landon, Annie and Roman Linnabery; Reece and Levi Leschber
He is preceded in death by his parents Carl and Juanita Garrett of LaMesa, TX
Legett truly enjoyed life and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He and his wife kept a running list of projects going over the years. He learned early on after marrying into the Janke family that if you threw a party with plenty of beer, barbeque and poker you could get lots of help building things like a pool house (Henderson, TX), grass laid (Rockport, TX) and a really big deck built (Portland, TX). He will truly be missed.
To honor his memory a Celebration of Life Party will be held at Dale’s Essenhaus in Walburg, Texas at 3 PM; all family and friends are invited.
Memorials may be directed to the charity of choice.
Offer Condolence for the family of James L. Garrett
