Nashville Cremation Center is owned by Jeff and Steve Murphy. The Murphy brothers are from the small west Tennessee town of Milan. Both are graduates of John A. Gupton College and both are licensed funeral directors and embalmers.
Jeff Murphy, CFSP
Jeff Murphy started his career in funeral service in 1983 when he began working for the funeral home in his hometown after school and in the summer months. After graduating from John A. Gupton College with a degree in mortuary science in 1986, he successfully passed the National Board Exam and was granted his license to practice embalming and funeral directing. Jeff earned the Certified Funeral Service Practitioner designation (CFSP) from the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice after completing more than 180 hours of continuing education. He is a Certified Crematory Operator. Jeff worked in several funeral homes in the Nashville area gaining valuable experience and making lifelong connections with the families he served. In 2006, Jeff joined his brother, and together they have built a very successful mortuary service that specializes in serving other funeral homes.
He also serves as a Clinical Instructor at John A.Gupton College.
Jeff lives in Bellevue with his wife, Stephane, and their dog Broady. An avid outdoorsman, in his free time he enjoys hiking, fishing, and spending time enjoying nature. On Friday nights you can find Jeff on the football fields in West Tennessee where he is a veteran high school football official.
Steve Murphy is Jeff’s younger brother. He graduated from John. A Gupton College in 1989. Steve passed the National Board Exam in 1990 and became a licensed funeral director and embalmer that same year. He spent several years serving families in the Nashville and Franklin areas. In 2001, he went into business for himself, founding Music City Mortuary, a company dedicated to serving the needs of other funeral homes. By 2006, the business had grown and Steve asked his brother to become his partner. Together the Murphy brothers opened Music Crematory Service. Today Steve operates Medina Funeral Home & Cremation Services, a full-service funeral home he founded in 2008.
Stevenjoys the outdoors, and is an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. He enjoys bodybuilding. And serves as a judge for bodybuilding contests. He also volunteers as a high school football assistant coach.
Stephane Murphy is married to Jeff. She grew up just outside of Nashville, in the Kingston Springs community. She graduated from Nashville Christian School in 1980. Stephane became a nurse and worked for the same obstetrician for almost 35 years. She retired from the medical field to join the family business. Stephane graduated from John A. Gupton College and is serving the prescribed apprenticeship to become a licensed funeral director.
In her free time, Stephane enjoys time outdoors and spoiling their granddaughter, Bella. Jeff and Stephane are members of Bellevue Baptist Church.
Mike is a licensed funeral director, pre-arrangement counselor, and certified crematory operator. He began his career in funeral service in 2002, while continuing a long and successful career in insurance.
Mike and his wife, Cindy enjoy racing Corvettes and are members of the Nashville Corvette Club.
Nathaniel Holman is the Managing Director of Nashville Cremation Center. He has spent much of his life around the funeral industry. A native of northwestern North Carolina, he began working at his family’s funeral home in 1994. He attended Appalachian State University and John A. Gupton College. A licensed funeral director and embalmer, Nathaniel has served the people of Nashville and middle Tennessee for nearly 15 years
Nathaniel lives in Bellevue with his wife, Sarah, and their son, Owen. He is a passionate UNC fan and enjoys spending time with his family, especially attending sporting events featuring his beloved Tar Heels.
Denny C. Shepard, D. Min
Denny has been serving as a church pastor for over 50 years and a licensed funeral director for over 30 years. Serving families, using the pastoral approach, is his goal. Denny resides in Bellevue with his wife, Kay.
