Aaron Michael Smith was born in Guilford County, North Carolina on March 29, 1995. On September 23, 2015, at the age of 20, Aaron died. He leaves behind his parents, Mike and Cheryl Smith and his sister and best friend, Melissa. He leaves behind an extended and loving family and many friends of all ages. Aaron graduated with honors from A.R.K. Christian Academy and completed his freshman year at Bryan College in Dayton, TN. He was a member of an incredible church family called New Hope Baptist.
Aaron was an outdoor enthusiast and became a better woodsman than his Dad. He was a passionate hunter who enjoyed the woods and water. As a competitive archer, Aaron won State and even competed at National events. Gifted in helping people, he was thoughtful, compassionate and often lifted his hands to assist others at their point of need.
Most importantly, Aaron received Jesus Christ as his Savior on November 23, 1999 and was and is a child of The King.

Dear Mike, Cheryl, and Melissa – You all are the sweetest, kindest, and most giving family we know, and we are so heartbroken over what has happened. However, through all of this sorrow God WILL GIVE a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, and festive praise instead of despair. In your righteousness through Christ, you WILL BE like great oaks that the LORD has planted for his own glory. (Isaiah 61:3) We will miss Aaron so much, especially Ben who lost a good friend. We love you and pray God’s peace and comfort upon you during this very difficult time and in the days and years ahead.

Mr. and Mrs. Smith and family,
It truly saddens us when we were informed of the death of your son Aaron. We met Aaron when he was working for our neighbor Wayne. After watching him undertake outside work for Wayne we were impressed with his assiduousness and work ethic so much that we offered him a job helping us on our property. From the very beginning we fell in love with Aaron with his engaging smile, soft-spoken manner and politeness beyond reproach. He came to work for us within a week of our contact and assisted in doing various jobs around our house including, to mention a few, painting, power-spraying, deck building, lawn-care, trellis building, tree-trimming, heating-air conditioning cleaning, insulating water pipes under the house and so much more.
We were so impressed with his work and manner that we referred him to others and in all cases he was revered in high regard from those who appreciated his calling, to help others.
We had Arron over to our house so many times that we treated him as family and he even stayed with us one night. Often when he came to work for us we provided lunch and one day he surprised us when he stated “Mr. Vaughn, lunch is on me today, is that okay?” And of course it was.
We loved Aaron dearly and we cannot imagine your grief but rest assured we share your pain. Everywhere we look around our property will be a reminder that he had a hand in it. God bless him and hold him forever.

Dear Mike, Cheryl, and Melissa,
I want to say I am so sorry for your loss. Aaron and I were on the 4-H archery team together, and I want you to know that I have never met someone so kind and considerate of other people. He is honestly the most gentle and loving person I could ever imagine. Each practice he came prepared to do well and from every competition I remember that the whole room went silent as people crowded around to watch him shoot. He definitely excelled in archery. His quiet and reserved nature is very rare in someone so gifted, and I really value that in him. Aaron is a great person and he will not be forgotten.
Much love to you and your family,
LeAnna Tanner

To the Smith Family,
I never had the pleasure of meeting you but I knew Aaron through 4-H. I am so very sorry for your loss. He was a wonderful young man and a pleasure to be around. He was an amazing archer. I was at a competition where he was shooting, and, with a room of 50 plus people, every one stood still and you could hear a pin drop when he stepped to the line. Through his knowledge that he willingly shared he helped other 4-H team members become better archers. His success allowed his team to advance to the National competition. Above all else he was kind, generous, respectful, honest, dedicated and very intelligent. He left an indelible mark on all he touched. No words can express how sorry I am for this time in your life. I can only pray that the Peace of the Lord will be with you during this time.

Dear Smith Family,
We pray the love of God enfolds you during this difficult time. Words are never adequate in moments like these. Our hearts go out to you, and we will always remember the joyous memories that we are privileged to have in knowing your son. Aaron had such a sweet smile, so eager to learn, so respectful, great work ethics, he made our hearts happy. Our meals shared together will never be forgotten. “The Lord is close to the broken-hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Psalms 34:18 He leaves behind a loving family and I know you will all be a great source of comfort and support to one another. God’s peace be with you always.

Dear Mike, Cheryl, and Melissa –
We want you to know that we are praying for you all daily. We know you find comfort and joy in knowing that Aaron is now in his forever home, but we also know that the heart still grieves that he has left his earthly home. For this we ask God to wrap His loving arms around you and sustain you during this time. We also ask that you find comfort in your sweet memories of Aaron. We have so many fond memories of your family, and of our kids when they were growing up, and we are so glad that God allowed our families to connect. We love you all!

Mike, Cheryl & Melissa, we were so saddened to hear of Aaron’s passing. Though we only knew your family for a few short years in Kernersville, we
loved you all so much. Aaron & Melissa went for a short ride with me in the convertible car & they really enjoyed that! I do remember us bringing over a strawberry pie after the kids had brushed their teeth & Aaron was able to talk himself into getting a piece. He will be missed & we pray for piece & comfort to you all. Don & Mary Rogers, Winterville, NC
